Community Development eEmpowerment Programs

MKCL runs several community development programs with a view to bridge the digital divide and resultant knowledge divide and propagate the culture conducive to nurturance of knowledge society among the masses.

Some of the initiatives include:

Nurturance of Excellence and Talent (NET) and Open Education Resources (OER) Repositories. This initiative aims to nurture talent amongst school children to develop their thinking, problem solving and analytical skills; synthesizing abilities. It cultivates insights and competitiveness amongst them to succeed in Junior International Science and Mathematics Olympiads. Children Science Exploratories are designed for developing the spirit of enquiry and discovery among the school children with the help of real as well as virtual laboratories and smart learning devices.

Hobby Homes is a fun-learning program for developing Multiple Intelligences of the children through large number of hobby-like activities and interactivities to be performed by the children between 6 to 14 years of age. These activities present numerous opportunities to the children to use regularly and effectively their various latent intelligences such as verbal/linguistic intelligence, mathematical/logical intelligence, musical intelligence, kinesthetic/bodily intelligence, naturalistic intelligence, navigational intelligence, intra-personal intelligence and inter-personal intelligence. Hobby Homes aim at balanced brain development by following the “use it or lose it” principle.

Life-long Learning eCommunities among teachers, community health workers, self-help group activists, youth activists in transformative programs for bridging the digital divide and resultant knowledge divide threatening the extinction of rural and marginalized communities due to severe challenges in the areas of food, healthcare, education, micro-credits, etc.

Rurban (Rural+Urban) Eco-friendly Habitat Development is a program for building an alternative sustainable life-style model for economically and environmentally challenged communities through knowledge-based, eco-friendly and harmonious synthesis of desirable features of urban and rural habitats.

Watershed Development Model for developing knowledge-based low-cost and high-quality designs of water security for sustainable livelihood for the communities in drought prone areas.

Digital Schools is a unique project recently undertaken by MKCL, that provides the school children, a information technology enabled and teacher facilitated learning environment inside their own brick and mortar school, by means of different activities and interactivities complementing the school curricula.
